The North Country Chamber of Commerce won two awards at the 2021 International Economic Development Council’s (IEDC) Annual Conference.
A Silver Rank award in the Multi-Year Economic Development category for the work of its subsidiary, the North American Center of Excellence for Transportation Equipment (NAmTrans)
A Bronze Rank award in the Special Purposes Website category for the redesign and update of its North Country Good Life talent attraction and employee relocation assistance website (northcountrygoodlife.com).

The awards were presented this week at an awards ceremony during the IEDC Annual Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

“To be recognized through two awards from the international economic development community is very gratifying,” says Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber of Commerce. “These two awards again highlight the Chamber’s strategic endeavors as among the best anywhere. Cluster development and growth is a key aim of all economic developers, and our NAmTrans initiative in support of the North Country’s Transportation Equipment and Aerospace Cluster has been affirmed as a major model. And our newly redesigned North Country Good Life relocation website establishes a tool for the attraction of talented people to our region from all over the world.

Congratulations in particular to Susan Matton and Joel Wood on the Chamber team for their continued dedication and performance, and thank you to the IEDC. Onward and upward!”

IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year’s most influential leaders. 25 award categories honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban, and rural communities. Awards are judged by a diverse panel of economic and community developers, following a nomination process held earlier this year. IEDC received over 500 submissions from 4 countries.
