Making North America Move

The North American Center of Excellence for Transportation Equipment (NAmTrans) is a strategic subsidiary of the North Country Chamber of Commerce based in Plattsburgh, New York, and is dedicated to:

  • Serving the large and diverse cluster of over fifty Transportation Equipment and Aerospace manufacturers in the seven-county North Country Region of New York State.
  • Building active working partnerships between this cluster and other Transportation Equipment and Aerospace clusters in New York State, Quebec, Ontario, and beyond.

Advisory Board

The North American Center of Excellence for Transportation Equipment is proud to be an industry-led initiative – receiving feedback and input from our NAmTrans Advisory Board.  

Our board is composed of leaders from the transportation equipment cluster, area educational institutions, and various regional economic development organizations.

The board provides planning guidance, feedback, and strategic advice on all NAmTrans activities. Board meetings are held on an as-needed basis as determined by the NAmTrans Director.

Created in 2017, Quebec's smart and electric transportation cluster rallies the entire sector around joint projects aimed at positioning Quebec as a leader in developing and implementing land transportation systems that promote smart and electric modes of ground transportation.

Aéro Montréal, Quebec's aerospace cluster, is a strategic think tank created in 2006 that groups all the major decision makers in Quebec's aerospace sector.

The go-to team for startups, manufacturers & technology companies in New York providing guidance & access to a network of program & funding

The North Country REDC has identified Transportation Equipment and Aerospace Manufacturing as a key industry for the North Country region and has, in result, supported the growth of our cluster and NAmTrans initiative.

Empire State Development is the umbrella organization for New York's two principal economic development public-benefit corporations, the New York State Urban Development Corporation and the New York Job Development Authority.

Assemblyman Billy Jones represents the 115th Assembly District of Upstate New York. Assemblyman Jones has long been a supporter of the North American Center of Excellence for Transportation Equipment and our growing cluster of transit/aerospace manufacturers, providing the funding necessary for our organization to function and support the cluster.
