This intensive three-week program, funded by the Northern Border Regional Commission and Empire State Development, provides participants with comprehensive training in welding fundamentals, safety practices, and MIG and Flux-Core welding techniques. The program is entirely free, ensuring accessibility for all participants. To date, 50 welders have successfully completed the program, with an additional 25 participants slated for training in 2025.
This initiative helps businesses reduce hiring costs by providing financial incentives to offset the wages of new employees during their training period. NYSERDA’s program offers funding to support businesses hiring and training workers in energy efficiency and clean energy roles.
