NAmTrans 2024 - A Year in Review

Here are some of the top highlights of 2024:

Welcoming Micro Bird & Supporting Our Region Through Transition

The North Country Chamber of Commerce and NAmTrans played a key role in facilitating Micro Bird taking over the Nova Bus facility in Plattsburgh, ensuring the site remains a vital part of our local economy. Beyond this, we’ve been actively working with current and former Nova Bus suppliers to help them find new business opportunities and supporting the workforce through this transition.

Training Local Talent for High-Demand Jobs

This year, we trained 48 welders to meet the needs of local manufacturers like Alstom and others. This program is a win for both regional employers and workers, creating opportunities to grow our skilled workforce.

Biggest Quebec-New York Transportation Rendezvous Yet!

In March, we hosted our most successful Quebec-New York Transportation Rendezvous, connecting businesses and organizations across the border to spark collaboration and innovation. With more than 200 attendees taking part in more than 200 B2B meetings, this event continues to strengthen the ties between the U.S. and Canada in the transportation sector.

Taking North Country Innovation Global

We showcased the North Country at world-class events like the Farnborough Airshow and Aero Montréal's International Aerospace Innovation Forum. These gatherings help put our region on the map for cutting-edge transportation and aerospace manufacturing.

Driving Local Innovation

Closer to home, we co-hosted Automate the North Country event alongside Neff Automation and CITEC Business Solutions to help regional manufacturers integrate advanced automation technologies and keep ahead of industry trends.

Telling Our Story

This year, we continued spreading the word about the amazing work happening in our region through:

  • New episodes of "We Make the World Move" on WIRY.
  • A feature episode of "On-the-Job with Joel" filmed at Norsk Titanium.

Looking Ahead to 2025

We’re already gearing up for an exciting year ahead! Here’s a peek at what’s in store:

  • Partnering with FuzeHub to host a transit-focused event in New York State – stay tuned for more details!
  • Unveiling the newly redesigned NAmTrans website (namtrans.org)
  • Supporting Micro Bird and former Nova suppliers through workforce training and supply chain development programs.
  • Planning our 2026 Quebec-New York Transportation Rendezvous, with more info to come.
  • Hosting additional welding training in partnership with CV-TEC and Lincoln Electric, funded by State Senator Jeremy Cooney.
  • Releasing more episodes of "We Make the World Move" and "On-the-Job with Joel" to highlight local industry stories.

Most importantly - thank you! We couldn’t do any of this without our incredible partners, supporters, and NAmTrans community. With a special thank you reserved for Assemblyman Billy Jones for believing in the work we do and supporting it financially at the New York State level.

Thank you for making 2024 a year to remember. We can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together in 2025!
